Thanksgiving was fun except for D2 vomiting in the middle of dinner. It was also the children’s great grandmother’s 96th birthday, so it was definitely a special day. D1 made a Lego helicopter by himself. I was impressed that he could follow the directions without help.
At my last doctor’s appointment, D4 wasn’t very reactive on the NST so I had to have a biophysical profile done to make sure she is still okay. She ended up being fine and scored an “8/8.” The BP machine read my blood pressure as super low (something like 74/XX) which was another snag in the day. I got the GBS screen taken care of, and I am a finger tip dilated which I am sure I always am after having so many kids. My 24-hour urine protein came back a little higher this week at 390 but still not too bad. As long as it’s not like 3,000, I don’t care. My kidneys can handle it. I have my next NST on Saturday before work. We are currently 36 weeks pregnant!
We don’t have our new car yet, but I got to drive it today. It was nice. I will be so spoiled! I better get used to it if one day I’ll be a doctor! I’m done with my history class for the semester, and today I took D2 to get his hair cut. D3 will be going to her first tea party on Friday with her grandma. My mother-in-law has had tea on all seven continents. Not everyone can say that!
I’ve been working with D1 on his kindergarten schoolwork, and he has been doing better writing the numbers “1-30″, he knows his shapes (including rhombus, trapezoid, and cylinder), he made his first graph of counted objects, he knows the first eight or so words from the pre-primer site list (he was supposed to know these 40 or so words before kindergarten…nice to know…errr), and he has been working on his addition and subtraction. Tomorrow, we have a meeting at his school to discuss how he can achieve better success in the classroom. What do they want? Blood, lol? How about I teach him how to integrate next, lol!
Tomorrow afternoon, I will also be leaving to go on my first medical school interview. My husband and two boys have made sure that my car is good to go for the trip. I am so excited. It will be weird, though, to be so far from my family for almost two days. Wish me luck! I really do like this school a lot.
I got an interview today for a medical school! I haven’t taken the MCAT yet, though, I suspect it was a mistake…or maybe the end of the world is just coming from what I see on the news. Still, I was super excited especially since I know a couple of physicians who graduated from there and liked it, the school is close to where I live, and because I would just be plain tickled to go there. I’ll give them a ring tomorrow to see if there was some glitch in the system or if I should REALLY get excited!
We’ve had warm weather here in Michigan lately. Yesterday, the kids actually played with the hose and got soaked. However, we’re still gearing up for Halloween. The youngest two are going to be garden gnomes, and the oldest is going to be Luigi from Mario brothers (his friend from school is going to be Mario). Also, the kids went to the dentist for the first time. They did great and had no cavities! We are very proud of them.
I got another iron transfusion today, and my last one will be next week. I think that they are helping me, overall. Also, next week I start fetal NSTs twice weekly until I deliver (part of a pre-eclampsia protocol since I had it twice before although mild cases with each). It’s going to be a really busy holiday season this year. Oh and the Joint Commission finally came to our hospital, and I guess that we did really well. Yes!
On the MCAT front, I’m almost done with the BR biology book one. I’m also working through the second BR biology book. Chad’s videos are helping me through the second book since I have not had biochemistry. I’m doing all the biology EK 1001 book and about a passage a day from the TPR science workbook. With my health not being so great lately and a new baby on the way, I’ve decided to take it easy and not take the MCAT until the spring of next year. That means, I will not be filling out any of the secondaries that I received and will not apply to the MSBS program that I was thinking of. June of 2013 (application time) will be here before I know it. Hopefully, this means that I will rock the MCAT going through all the information that the major test prep companies have to offer.
