We’re going to Mars on Monday on Maven!
Our names on a DVD that is…yeah kind of corny but I thought it was cool and D1 wrote a Haiku for the aliens (not sure if his poem made it on the DVD be he submitted one). Hopefully, NASA has their units of measurement straight this time, lol.
D1 is having a way better year at school in first grade. He has a teacher who realizes his strengths and is willing to work with his weaknesses. He is considered behind in his reading according to the school; however, he is now on their second grade sight word list, on level H on RAZ kids (considered late first grade), almost done with level three (out of five) on the Reading Kingdom (considered beginning of second grade), and halfway through the HeadSprout program for reading (considered beginning of first grade). The teacher lets him do third grade math on the computer which is great that she doesn’t hold him back. Our school system has Everyday Math which is less than desirable so any kind of extra math is good. He’s been coming home happy from school. They had a disco party with a “live band” he says and had fun dancing! D1 is also loving his robotics class.
D2 an D3 are learning their letters. D3 can count to ten and loves drawing pictures of creepy faces. D2 is getting really good with his Lego creations and is on par where D1 was when he was his age. D2 really wants to go to robotics but will have to wait another year when he is in kindergarten. Last week, he came with us to watch D1. D3 is my handful right now since she is going through the terrible twos at the age of three.
D4 is eleven months now and “booty bounces” which is my name for how she gets around the house by bouncing on her butt. She can crawl the “normal” way, but this is way better! She has two teeth, shares her food, swipes food, loves her siblings, and loves to look at herself in the mirror. Man, she is so sweet!
I’m in the middle of taking genetics (a requirement for a couple medical schools in the area) and have a paper due soon. Also, I’m waiting to hear back from medical schools about my applications. After taking the MCAT in September, I’m a little late in the game but hopefully not too late. I’m also prepping for next year if things don’t work out for this year. Next semester, I’m taking biochemistry.
On Monday, I start a new job at a new hospital. I worked at my old hospital for a little over ten years so this is a big change for me. I’ll be a bedding coordinator at a bigger facility and their program is new. It’ll be fun to do this at a bigger hospital with more ICUs and cool stuff to figure in to the decision making process. I had really hoped on finding an OB job, and I applied to almost 20 positions in Michigan and Ohio over the last year with no luck. I’m beginning to think that becoming a doctor is now my only way to working in OB, lol.
